We are pleased to announce that the Trustees of the Library appointed Lisa Browar, effective September 1, 2008.

Prior to her appointment, Ms. Browar served as University Librarian at The New School in New York City, a position she held beginning in 2002.. During her tenure, she guided three separately administered libraries through a transformation that produced a single administrative entity serving the needs of a diverse university community with an increasingly internationalized curriculum and student body.

Ms. Browar came to The New School from Indiana University, where she was the Librarian for English & American Literature, Film Studies, and Philosophy and Director of the Lilly Library. Previous positions include Assistant Director for Rare Books and Manuscripts at the New York Public Library, Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts at Vassar, and Assistant Curator for the American Literature Collection and a Project Archivist for the Latin American Pamphlets Collection at Yale University.
